Welcome to 2 by 22!
Did you know only 2% of 22-year-olds make over $65,000 a year? That means 98% either go unemployed or make less than $65,000.1
And here’s the thing: going to a college – even a great one – is not enough to break into the 2%. Throughout my 4 years at UC Berkeley, I noticed 2 counterintuitive trends:
- Some of my peers graduated with $100,000+ jobs, while others struggled with their career and graduated unemployed
- Those same students who graduated with multiple incredible and lucrative job offers tended to be in similar social circles and student organizations
I’ve seen these patterns play out at colleges across the nation – including the most prestigious Ivy League universities.
These social circles and student organizations are important for professional development. They accelerate your learning by providing recruiting resources and connecting you with other ambitious peers. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to these organizations.
This blog is about breaking down those barriers by giving you the inside scoop on how to graduate into the top 2% of 22-year-old income earners, while pursuing a career you love.
It’s about finding your passion, doing what you love, and graduating with financial stability. All 3, no compromises.
I know getting a job post-graduation is not easy. Certainly one that checks all these boxes is even harder. But don’t worry!
I will send you weekly emails about how to manage your career in college. Through these emails, I will teach you everything you need to know to get your dream job. If you don’t have a dream job in mind, GREAT! I’ll teach you how to find opportunities that excite you. It doesn’t matter what major you are – if you read my emails and are proactive about your professional development, you will get an amazing job. Of course the earlier you start the better, but it’s never too late.
So who am I?
<- Hi, I’m Rohan
I have always been fascinated by people’s career choices and what they spend their life accomplishing. I grew up in Pleasanton, California – the backyard of Silicon Valley. Recently, I graduated from UC Berkeley where I majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship & Technology.
In July, I joined LinkedIn’s Strategy & Analytics rotational program. My goal is to learn as much as possible about how technology companies work and eventually found my own company.
I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to work for/receive offers from prominent companies and startups including:
Throughout college, I’ve spent a lot of time learning about many different career paths and helping my friends with their recruiting process. I’ve helped 50+ friends land jobs and internships at the following companies:
As you can probably tell, I spend way too much time thinking about careers and helping people find their dream job – but it’s something I love to do. I attribute much of what I know to my friends and mentors, and I strongly believe in paying it forward.
My goal is for you to graduate with a fantastic job that you are genuinely excited about.
